Telemedicine Delegated Credentialing Agreement

The rules allow the home hospital to use agent certification when telemedicine services are provided by a physician located in the following areas: 1) a remote site hospital participating in Medicare; or 2) another company that provides telemedicine services (a “remote site telemedicine business” or “DSTE”). A DSTE is a unit providing: 1) telemedicine services; 2) is not a Medicare participating hospital; and (3) provides contractual services in a manner that enables the hospital of the place of origin to meet all applicable conditions of participation, in particular the requirements for certification and privilege of telemedicals. A DSTE can be a group of physicians, a non-Medicare participating hospital, or another non-hospital telemedicine provider. .
